topic: Should SVG's <script> element support the fetchpriority attribute analogous to HTML's <script> element?
06:50:27 [krit_]
https://github.com/w3c/svgwg/issues/916

06:51:05 [krit_]
karlcow: implemented in Firefox and a not-merged patch in WebKit. Not implemented in Chrome.
06:51:20 [krit_]
karlcow: Is Chrome interested? Not part of the SVG spec right now.

Vinay: Async is in Chrome but not fetchpriority.
06:52:32 [krit_]
Vinay: I have to get back since the involved team has issues with the XML parser. But async ships.
06:53:10 [karlcow]
https://wpt.fyi/results/svg/scripted/attr-script-fetchpriority.html?label=experimental&label=master&aligned

06:53:53 [krit_]
action: Vinay to investigate if this is in th einterest of Chrome to have fetchpriority attribute on SVG script element
06:54:19 [krit_]
topic: Editorial] Convert main specification to bikeshed
06:54:28 [krit_]
https://github.com/w3c/svgwg/issues/1036

06:54:40 [krit_]
karlcow: Will make more progress next week.
06:54:56 [krit_]
karlcow: I hope to finalize by EOY
06:55:26 [krit_]
topic: [Editorial] missing word attribute in 6.1 section about styling.
06:55:32 [krit_]
https://github.com/w3c/svgwg/issues/1041

06:56:14 [krit_]
karlcow: Minor: There is a sentence in the spec with a missing work about the style attribute. Should we add it?
06:58:19 [krit_]
krit_: Suggestion is to make the text formative, add a MUST and the word attribute. Only the information about SVG 1.1's behavior stays informative? I agree to your change suggest.
06:58:22 [krit_]
Vinay: me too
06:59:05 [krit_]
RESOLUTION: A the word attribute, make the text formative with a MUST. Follow the change suggestion from Karl on the ticket
06:59:18 [krit_]
topic: [WPT maintenance] fixing xlink:href in tests
06:59:23 [krit_]
https://github.com/w3c/svgwg/issues/1042

07:01:11 [krit_]
karlcow: There are a lot of usages of xlink:href in the spec. Should we replace it everywhere?
07:03:16 [krit_]
krit_: Are you confident that all browsers and editors support the href w/o prefix?
07:03:56 [nzimmermann]
nzimmermann has joined #svg
07:04:17 [krit_]
nzimmermann: How would we know which applications support SVG in general. Do we have a list?
07:05:15 [krit_]
krit_: SVG is widely used as interchange format on clipboard for various applications from InkScape to Illjustrator and borwser apps. Each app may have their own implementation with the own parser. I am not confident that they all support hred. Illustrator doesn't for example.
07:06:11 [krit_]
nzimmermann: We can deprecate it, but in the ticket Karl says something about the precedence which one to use href / xlink:href.
07:06:21 [krit_]
nzimmermann: wait, it is in the spec but not being tested
07:06:30 [krit_]
karlcow: it is in the spec and yes, no test
07:06:57 [krit_]
s/no test/Chrome team added a test
07:07:01 [krit_]
s/no test/Chrome team added a test/
07:07:40 [krit_]
karlcow: question here is: Do we remove it?
07:08:04 [krit_]
nzimmermann: there could be a meta test for href and xlink:href
07:09:04 [krit_]
krit_: Do all browsers at least support href? Then we would have 3 implementatinos?
07:09:19 [krit_]
karlcow: yes, green everywhere with a few minor bugs in Safari
07:09:26 [krit_]
s/Safari/WebKit/
07:09:41 [krit_]
caribou: and do we know about editor applications?

07:10:16 [krit_]
karlcow: the class of applications woul need to implement href AND use WPT
07:10:36 [dmangal]
present+
07:13:55 [krit_]
karlcow: We could decide to make href a prefix of xlink:href. But this is not the point for WPT.
07:14:23 [krit_]
nzimmermann: WPT is WEB platform. So we should remove the Xlink prefix where possible.
07:14:43 [krit_]
nzimmermann: good to get this off and align HTML and SVG more.
07:15:18 [krit_]
nzimmermann: IMO this only affects browsers. In reality, most other applications would not even use WPT.
07:16:34 [krit_]
Vinay: We will just have breaking tests that no one will fix.
07:18:46 [krit_]
ydaniv: In favor of removing it but did see XML based parser implementagtions of SVG which had the issue.
07:19:28 [krit_]
RESOLUTION: Remove xlink: prefix on href in all WPT tests w/ exception of the meta test to verify behavior on xlink:href to href
07:19:44 [krit_]
topic: [WPT] Testing deprecated xlink:href and precedence of href #1043
07:19:48 [krit_]
https://github.com/w3c/svgwg/issues/1043

07:20:24 [krit_]
karlcow: Chrome team submitted a test to test precedence of href to xlink:href. So issue is fixed.
07:20:38 [krit_]
nzimmermann: did you review it?
07:20:42 [krit_]
karlcow: I will double check
07:22:05 [krit_]
