The SVG 1.1 text won't change no, actually what needs to be fixed is this: http://www.w3.org/TR/SVG2/styling.html#Scope There's absolutely no point in having features in standard that nobody is prepared to implement. This is different from having features that UAs are prepared to implement but have not yet due to resource constraints and it can be hard to tell as an outside observer which is which but in this case all implementers have agreed on the restrictions inherent in svg-as-an-image. If all implementers agree that the standard should change then that's what happens. Robert.
