Given that git is distributed and that everyone who has a clone has everything, the level of concern for just maintaining the content is relatively minimal. A lot of people are doing it. There are stronger concerns about using GitHub issues and the such since that's data that could theoretically go away. But the concerns aren't strong enough that anyone has been prevented from doing it so far (and it is certainly in relatively common practice). At some point someone will take the time to write a tool that backups data dumps from the GH API and we'll be pretty much good throughout. In any case I would strongly encourage y'all to put SVG on GitHub; we should be where the community is and we should encourage collaboration. -- Robin Berjon - http://berjon.com/ - @robinberjon
