Hello, the current draft for SVG 2 notes, that role is not animatable. This is yet another backwards incompatibility of this draft compared to SVG tiny 1.2. Due to animation, the presentation state and the role of an element may change over time. What should authors do with such elements? Forget about the role attribute at all? I suggest to align here with SVG tiny 1.2 as well to set it to animatable. Else an informative text will be necessary to explain authors what to do, if the role changes over time. Olaf
