Robert Longson: ><animate> tag works perfectly well to animate colours in SVG. The same applies for animateColor (except of course, if authors note out of range values within the animation - here some viewers fail for both again - indeed there is no perfect implementation of animate for fill and stroke etc that I know). Therefore no need to worry about especially animateColor and to cause trouble for authors using it ... It would be much more effective, if we could concentrate on fixing remaining bugs and gaps or new interesting features instead of discussing the useless depreciation of already working features ... But of course, if authors and users get frustrated by intentionally blocked features (due to the idiosyncrasy of a few programmers), there will be not much interest to help to find and fix bugs and gaps in viewers and drafts at all - usually people realise relatively soon to distinguish between purely technical and therefore simply to solve issues and private problems.
