We are leaning towards issuing an errata for SVG 1.1 (and in the subsequent 2nd edition), and removing it in SVG 1.2. We will discuss this at the F2F next week, but on the surface, I don't see a problem. I'd be very surprised if anyone implemented this. We'll keep you posted. Thanks for your report.
