Thanks for your comment. We regret that we had no normative definition of "bounding box" before. I have corrected this by creating a normative definition which conflates information from throughout the spec and adds conformance criteria, and replaced inline explanations with links to the definition. Unfortunately, the changes are too extensive and distributed to include in this email, but they will be reflected in the next public draft of the specification.
