That was the original promise, but it is essentially unfulfilled. At the moment, one cannot safely use SVG as an image format on the public internet, whilst at the same time a lot of effort seems to be going into making a Flash replacement and mobile phone games, both of which tend to be aimed at young, affluent, users with all their senses intact.
