Hi Robert, On 13 mai 04, at 20:19, Robert O'Callahan wrote: > -- Instead of copying parts of SMIL into SVG, why not create a > SMIL+SVG profile? The historical relationship betweenSM SVG and SMIL started with SMIL Animation [0] and the strings attached to it (timing, etc.), back in the SVG 1.0 days. The SMIL Animation spec is meant to be "hosted" by another spec that refines areas where adaptation to the host language is needed. For instance, SVG 1.0 adds such elements as <animateColor /> and <animateTransform />. Today, the foray into <audio> and <video> also needs some clear adaptation to the SVG model, especially for the video aspect as SVG's rich rendering model (transforms, opacity, filters and whatnots) calls for adaptation of the original SMIL spec and markup.
