I suggest you take a look at the SVG-Developers list on YahooGroups.com.

That seems to be where much of the worthwhile public discussion of SVG is 
currently taking place.

The SVG-developers list has around 900 members now. There is a list of links 
to interesting sites, including tutorials etc
