Adobe Systems announces Adobe® Illustrator® 9.0 with support for the March 3 draft of the W3C's Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) specification allowing designers and developers the opportunity to: * Import or exported either uncompressed (i.e., normal SVG), or compressed (using industry standard, open source gzip/ZIP compression) * Take advantage of rich SVG transparency * Embed either Type1 or TrueType fonts in the SVG file using Adobe's CEF (Compact Embedded Font) format, which supports fully hinting and kerning of Type1 fonts with superior compression characteristics * Assign hyperlinks to any graphics object * Attach JavaScript event handlers (e.g., onmouseover) to any object See www.adobe.com/products/illustrator/ (product features), www.adobe.com/svg (SVG overview) and http://beta1.adobe.com/svgpreview_alpha/SVG/main.html (~ hundred page SVG tutorial). ...............................
