Images, video, audio, and animation are becoming increasingly important on
the World Wide Web. At the same time, there are a number of competing
standards and open research questions that need to be resolved in order to
move to the next level of multimedia content on theWeb. This workshop will
provide an international technical forum for active researchers and
practitioners who are involved in various aspects relating to multimedia and
the World Wide Web. The workshop will emphasize issues relevant to designing,
developing, and utilizing Multimedia World Wide Web applications. Since the
workshop will be organized as a part of VL 2000, an important emphasis will be
languages (programming, authoring, mark up, and scripting) for multimedia on
the World Wide Web.

					TOPICS

Various types of contributions are solicited, including research papers,
lessons learned, status reports, and discussion of practical problems, in
all areas related to the use of multimedia on the World Wide Web, including
languages for multimedia and applications involving the use of multimedia on
the World Wide Web. Topics include, but are not limited to:

                    Streaming Audio and Video
                    XML
