With timely support for breaking news and impressive deal making, Real has shown that they don't intend to lose market share without a fight. With the surge caused by the Whitehouse scandal, RealNetworks now has over 5 million SMIL capable G2 players in use. Macromedia and Microsoft Changing Tune? Macromedia and Microsoft seem to be gaining a softer heart toward SMIL. An amazing statement considering the total lack of SMIL information found on their site. Maybe that will change this week. Microsoft, Macromedia, and Compaq have teamed up offer a new take on SMIL with the HTML+TIME specification. Is it a step forward or an end-run around SMIL? Tell us what you think in SMILZone.
