Call for Workshop Proposals

The 6th European Semantic Web Conference (ESWC 2009)
31 May - 4 June 2009
Crete, Greece

http://www.eswc2008.org/

The ESWC is the leading European Conference on Theory, Practice and
Applications of Semantic Web Technologies, constantly attracting a
high number of high quality submissions participants from academia and
industry.

Besides the main technical programme, ESWC will host workshops on
topics related to the Conference theme. Workshops promote scientific
exchange amongst researchers interested in a particular topic and act
as a meeting point for the community. The workshops should provide the
opportunity to present and discuss ongoing work and new ideas in
subfield of Semantic Web research.

Of particular interest are workshop proposals with an
interdisciplinary standpoint, proposals focusing on a specific
technology of general interest, or gathering a sub-community.

General Information and criteria

* Co-located workshops cover topics falling in the general scope of
the ESWC conference (refer to http://www.eswc2009.org/)
* They are clearly focused.
* There is potentially a significant community interested in the
workshop's topic.
* Workshop duration can be half a day or a full day.
* We advise having more than one organizer and no more than four,
preferably from different institutions, bringing different
perspectives to the workshop topic.
* Workshops are intended to be genuine interactive events and not mini-
conferences. We welcome workshops with creative structures and
organizations that attract various types of contributions and ensure
rich interactions.

Responsibilities

* The organizers of accepted workshops will be responsible for their
own paper selection process, publicity (i.e., website and call for
paper), program design and proceedings production. They will be
required to closely cooperate with the Workshops Chairs and the ESWC
2009 local organizers to finalize all organizational details.
* The ESWC organizers will be reponsible for registration management,
proceeding distribution, publishing workshop information on the ESWC
web site, and room reservation.
* The workshop attendees must pay the ESWC 2009 workshop registration
fee, as well as the conference registration fee.

Submission Guidelines

Workshop proposals should be no more than 5 pages in length, should be
in text or PDF format and should contain the following information:

* The title and brief technical description of the workshop,
specifying its goals and motivation.
* A brief discussion of why the topic is of particular interest at
this time.
* A brief description of why and to whom the workshop is of interest,
the workshop audience, as well as the expected number of participants.
* A brief description (draft outline) of the proposed workshop format,
discussing the mix of events such as paper presentations, invited
talks, panels, and general discussion.
* A list of (potential) members of the program committee (at least 50%
have to be known and confirmed at the time of the proposal).
* An indication of whether the workshop should be considered for a
half-day or full-day meeting.
* If there have been previous editions of the workshop, their short
description, including URLs as well as some statistics about
submissions and acceptance rate.
* The names and contact information (web page, email address) of the
proposed organizing committee and short description of their relevant
experience.
