What do Atom, DISC, EventsML, ICE, NewsML, NITF, PRISM, RDF/OWL, RSS,
TV-Anytime, XHTML and XMP have in common? All are standards related to
the packaging and delivery of News. And all were discussed at the
second News Standards Summit, which took place on 24 May 2005 in
Amsterdam.
The 17 speakers came from: Adobe, Agence France-Presse (AFP), Austrian
Press Agency (APA), Business Wire, dpa-infocom, European Broadcasting
Union (EBU), IDEAlliance, International Press Telecommunications Council
(IPTC), relaxnews, PubSub, Reuters, Vodafone, and the World Wide Web
Consortium (W3C).
Their presentations and audio files are now available online at:

The open discussion following the presentations focused on the challenge
of trying to reconcile the various standardisation efforts. Efforts are
underway to increase contact between the people active in the various
standardisation activities. To continue the discussion, join the News
Standards Summit Discussion Group:
