Dear All, AIS SIGSEMIS will deliver a short Bulletin Issue 1(4) at 20th of December. I would like to inform you that the Bulletin 2(1) 2005 is scheduled for 15th of February. For the next year given your continuous support we will provide a better and of higher quality publication. Let me explain you the key issues of our revised strategy: (A) In each issue, starting by issue 1(2) we will have three sections concerning research papers: - SPECIAL ISSUE. Guest editors, will be responsible for planning and delivering a special issue in a topic of high interest. Starting by Issue 2(1) we will plan for the Special theme: "Semantic Web and Life Sciences", more details and a CFP for this avallable at the first week of January. We will go through the standards of CACM or IEEE intelligent Systems and we will announce shorty the Editorial Calendar for 2005. Potential guest editors are invited to submit special issue proposals sto my mail at lytras@ceid.upatras.gr with the subject AIS SIGSEMIS Bulletin special issue, and one page description of the proposed theme (pls include guesti editorial board, short bios, and topics covered), no later than 20/1/2005 (maybe we can have bimonthly special issues) Each special issue will host also a "discussion forum" in the SIGSEMIS portal during the open call and after the publication of the Special Issue. - General Research papers. Pls see the CFP below for General Research Papers for Bulletin 2(1) 2005. AIS SIG on Semantic Web and Information Systems, AIS SIG SEMIS Bulletin, 2(1) 2005 <http://www.sigsemis.org> http://www.sigsemis.org CALL FOR SHORT ARTICLES Deadline for submission: February 5th, 2005. IS SIGSEMIS Bulletin invites short articles, case studies, and project reports for the October Issue (Volume 1, Issue 3, 2004). You can download the first two Issues of AIS SIGSEMIS Bulletin at www.sigsemis.org (First Issue Theme: Semantic Web Challenges for Information Systems Research Community and Second Issue Theme: Semantic Web Challenges for Knowledge Management). The articles in the bulletin can be from 1000 to 2500 words. 2. The manuscripts should be either in Word or RTF format. 3. Please send the manuscripts by email as attachment to Dr. Miltiadis D. Lytras lytras@ceid.upatras.gr , copied to Dr. Miguel-Angel Sicilia, msicilia@uah.es (Subject: AIS SIGSEMIS Bulletin Issue 2(1) 2005. - Discussion papers. We invite submission of RIP papers that will be hosted also in SIGSEMIS.org and a discussion will be organized in order to strengthen the authors' approach. Only two papers max will be selected in each bulletin and must be from PhD students. (B) Strategic Alliance with International Journal on Semantic Web and Information Systems : More over Bulletin, is going to set higher quality standards. Towards this direction AIS SIGSEMIS Bulletin has a strategic role for the preparation of HIGH Quality papers for Publication in International Journal on Semantic Web and Information Systems (EIC: Amit Sheth). In 2(1) Issue Prof. Amit Sheth provides his strategy for the new journal and explains in detail its bojectives and vision for a LEADING Journal serving CS, IS and SW communities. (C) AIS SIGSEMIS is helping Business World: >From the Issue 2(1) 2005, we start an intensive campaing in order to bring together the business word interested in SW. More details on this will be announced shorty. D) AIS SIGSEMIS plays a key role in Brinking together people for Research Proposals: 1st Action IST EU FP6: AIS SIGSEMIS is a place of open communication and collaboration. There is no control, we are open minded and free to express our ideas. But we do believe thay SW has to go trough a boost of implementation and communication of its key aspects. Towards this direction and given the Semantic Web intensive flavor of European FP6 we will create a special section in SIGSEMIS portal, bringing together partners interested in Research Proposals.
