The 'competition rules', i.e. the capability being asked of the syndication
language has been generally expressed in terms of existing syndication.
Current feeds predominantly use variations on 'flat' XML from the RSS 0.9x
thread. So in effect the question being asked is "What is best for RSS
0.9x-style syndication?" Not surprisingly, RSS 0.9x-style languages do
rather well in this competition.

Cheers,
Danny.
