The XML namespace "xml" attributes (and all attributes with "xml" at the start) are interpreted to give the appropriate Infoset Infoitems and properties. See also Namespaces in XML (for "xmlns") and XML Base (for "xml:base"), normatively referenced from the Infoset specification. There is no 'undoing' going on. Dave
