My company, Bitzi, stewards a collaborative effort to collect, review, and republish metadata about discrete files, keyed by their cryptographic hashes. Much like the Open Directory Project ("DMOZ"), we will make the aggregate data we collect available for reuse and creation of derivative works under a free license. Our very first experimental data dump, as RDF, featuring the "best" contributed datums about 261,190 files, is now available at: http://preview.openbits.org Those people interested in the issues surrounding peer-to- peer content sharing and file authenticity might especially want to take a look. Everything -- including the dump format, license, and contribution systems -- is still in experimental form, so comments and suggestions are welcome. Thanks! ____________________ Gordon Mohr, gojomo@ bitzi.com, Bitzi CTO _ http://bitzi.com _
