Danny, your mail made me think of Robert E. Kents "Web Conceptual Space" initiative( http://wave.eecs.wsu.edu/ ). There are several "similar concepts" between his work and your initiative. There is a demo program allowing you to play with similarity ( http://wave.eecs.wsu.edu/WAVE/versions/versions_2_x.html ). He (and his team) are also working on ontologies. A quote from one of his pages is "in childhood using SHOE, in adolescence using RDF, in adulthood using CG" ( http://wave.eecs.wsu.edu/CKRMI/OML.html ), so there may be a road ahead for us, RDF adepts (adolescents?). Another interesting "related concepts" (very likely not based on RDF) tool may be Catria's Themescape: http://www.cartia.com/products/techoverview.html Hope this is useful / inspiration to you.
