Mark, for contrast consider the following example: :David :Likes :apples :apples :subclassof :fruit however, it would be wrong to infer :David :Likes :fruit This makes the point that what one can infer from subclass is quite dependent on the property being consider (:subject does subclass, :likes doesn't). This in turn would suggest that there's going to have to be some rules-per-property, meaning we'll probably be stuck doing 1.
