I have finally have something to contribute to this list about VRA, RDF, MyLibrary, and uPortal. The other day MacKenzie sent along a VRA Core schema, and it included the names of contributors: <!-- VRA (Visual Resources Association) Core 3.0 XML Schema, version 0 Developed by Esme Cowles (UC San Diego) with input from Matt Benzing (RPI), Sherman Clarke (NYU), Howard Batchelor (UCLA), Rick Beaubien (UC Berkeley), Karim Boughida (Getty Research Institute), Mary Elings (UC Berkeley), Fae Hamilton (RLG), Oleg Kreymer (Metropolitan Museum of Art), Emerson Morgan (ARTStor), Merrilee Proffitt (RLG), Trish Rose (UC San Diego), Eric Stedfeld (NYU), Guenter Waibel (RLG, formerly UC Berkeley), Robin Wendler (Harvard) and Brad Westbrook (UC San Diego). --> Ironic, because just last week or so I met a number of these people at the MCN Annual Conference in Las Vegas: http://dewey.library.nd.edu/morgan/travel/mcn-2003/ During the conference there was a lot of discussion about VRA Core and creating a schema, and some of us sat down in a casino and discussed the next steps. At the same time I am very interested in RDF, and we are working on syndicating MyLibrary (a library-based portal application) content to uPortal/SCT Luminis. To date this is working pretty well. We're working with some folks from Leigh University to make this more of a reality: http://dewey.library.nd.edu/mylibrary/ Additionally, we are exploring the use of Dspace as a means of collecting and archiving digital assets of the University. It is a small world, and it is nice when things come full circle. -- Eric Lease Morgan Head, Digital Access and Information Architecture Department University Libraries of Notre Dame (574) 631-8604
