RE: Best practices using URIs

Hi Nick:

We are currently preparing a revision to the Internet-Draft which we plan to
publish together with a comprehensive FAQ, a Registry policy document, and a
pointer to the actual Registry itself which will be OAI-PMH harvestable.
Note that the domain name is now dedicated to the "info" URI scheme and will
be info-uri.info". The Registry will be located under that domain at
<http://info-uri.info/registry/> and supporting resources and documentation
will also be available on the website at http://info-uri.info/>.

We are hoping to publish this as soon as, but want to coordinate the release
of these materials as best we can. I can't give you a final list of
namespaces at this time (suffice to say that the example namespaces quoted
in the I-D are strong candidates - possibly with the exception of Dewey at
this time), but the Registry will be populated as and when we get
permissions from the respective namespace authorities. Another prosective
candidate namespace would of course be Handle. But "info" is open to all
public namespaces that are of interest to the library and publishing
communities.

This is a great idea, as it allows unconnected people to give the same
URIs to items, provided the items have previously been given a unique
identifier such as a Dewey Decimal code or Library of Congress number.
However, the URL given for NISO, http://info-uri.niso.org failes to
resolve. Is there a comprehensive list of proposed info-namespaces about?
