I'd suggest contacting Randy Hodge at Oracle, rhodge@oracle.com, and asking him about this. He may have some information on the best methods for securing the interface between the DB and the Web. Off the shelf, I'd suggest using a combin(oops) combination of WOW and SNS, Secure Network Services, to secure the connection between Oracle and the WOW gateway.
