Per my action item (recorded in [1]) from the recent W3C Technical Plenary: "to index QA Handbook [2] to answer specific questions" My approach: The Introduction to the QA Handbook indicates that the handbook is for Working Group (WG) chairs and team contacts, so supposedly they would be the ones asking the questions of the handbook. So I tried to think of what questions they would ask of this handbook, based upon the Introduction. I also looked up the definition of "index" in Webster's dictionary. The definition I found was: "something serving to guide, point out, or otherwise aid reference, as an alphabetized listing of names, places, and subjects in a printed work that gives the page on which each item is mentioned." So after considering what questions WG members might ask of the QA Handbook, as well as the definition of "index', following is a first draft of tags/questions for the good practices of the QA Handbook (after (QA), which is implicitly included, alphabetized , with GP being Good Practice). First comes the index term, then the referenced GPs, and finally the hypothesized question that would supposedly be answered by those good practices. Comments welcome. Thanks and best wishes Tim Boland NIST [1]: http://www.w3.org/2006/02/27-qa-minutes.html [2]: http://www.w3.org/TR/qa-handbook/ --------------------------------------------Beginning of Index --------------------------------------------------------------------------- (QA) Communication - GP 7, 8, 9 (Question might be "How would the WG communicate their QA activities to those outside of the WG?") (QA) Deliverables - GP 2, 3, 4 (Question might be "What are the QA deliverables for my WG?")(NOTE - maybe some overlap with "test materials" - I could say "other deliverables?") (QA) Planning - GP 2, 3, 4 (Question might be " What QA schedules should I put in place for my WG"? NOTE -may be related to "deliverables" - maybe should be combined?) (QA) Policy - GP 10, 11, 12 (Question might be "What policies (from a legal or business standpoint) does my WG need to put in place to support QA objectives of my WG?" ) (NOTE - these are duplicated in "test materials" index previously?) (QA) Process - GP 6 (Question might be "What QA process does my WG need to have in support of QA?") (QA) Staffing - GP 5 (Question might be "How would my WG staff my QA activities?") (QA) Test Materials - GP 1, 7, 10, 11, 12, 13 (all have the term "test material" specifically mentioned in them - Question might be "How should my WG handle test materials for QA?") ---------------------------------------------End of Index-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
