QA WG f2f in Redmond WA, MS Campus, Jan 6-8 2003 - logistics

Hi all,

I'm excited to remind you about our f2f meeting in Redmond, WA at
Microsoft campus, January 6 - 8. Here are some logistics details. There
will be of course some leisure events in the evenings.

Commute from the airport

You arrive at SEA-TAC airport, proceed to the luggage/ground
transportation. The most common way from the airport to Redmond/Bellevue
is to take a taxi/rent a car (there is not much of public transportation
in Seattle area). Taxi is ~50 USD to Bellevue/Redmond.  There is also a
shared shuttle service - 28$ for 1, 36$ for 2 people.

I would recommend to rent a car or taxi - that's the most efficient way
to commute here. Driving directions depends on the hotel you're going
to. But in order to get to Bellevue/Redmond, you always take I-405 north
(follow pointers) and then take either 13 or 14th exits.

 

Lodging

I was recommended the following hotels close to Microsoft: 

1.	Mariott Residence Inn - Bellevue. 0.8mi from Microsoft, free
shuttle to Microsoft campus and anything else within 5 miles.

gives a rate 157 USD.
2.	Fairfield Inn -
http://www.marriott.com/dpp/PropertyPage.asp?MarshaCode=BVUFI . 1mi from
Microsoft. No shuttle service, but cheaper: Expedia gives a rate 134
USD.

 

There are cheaper hotels in the center of Bellevue: DoubleTree (~120$),
BestWestern Bellevue Inn (~90$), but they are 20min drive from campus.
If you don't plan on renting a car, the taxi within Bellevue will cost
~10-20$.

 

Commute to Microsoft campus

 

The meeting will take place in 112th building of the West Campus,
Redmond, Room 2181. 

 

You can get a map from Expedia, type in: 148th Ave NE & NE 36th St,
Redmond, WA, 98052 - that's the intersection the building is on. I'll
show you the location on the 1st day. If we can get all of you in the
same hotel or near by, then I can drive all of you to the campus the
first day. Or we could agree to meet at some convenient easy to find
location closer to the meeting.

 

Connectivity

 

Wireless connection will be available. TV facilities will be there.
Teleconference facilities will be provided if we need them.
