Hello, Sixteen people attended the 11 March 2002 Patent Policy Working Group (PPWG) teleconference. The group discussed the Royalty-Free Patent Policy Working Draft. The majority of the meeting was spent discussing open issues and under what conditions issues will be revisited. At the suggestion of Open Source/free software participants, a change in wording was made to the definition of Royalty-Free Licenses in section 3.1 of the current Working Draft. The words "implementers of the specification" were removed. Disclosure and exclusion both for unpublished and published applications are still unresolved. There was a brief report from the Task Force for optional features. The PPWG will meet next on 18 March. Best wishes, -- Susan Lesch http://www.w3.org/People/Lesch/ mailto:lesch@w3.org tel:+1.858.483.4819 World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) http://www.w3.org/
