Please apologize for potential cross-posting. ** Call for Papers ------------------------------------------------------------ 3rd Workshop on Engineering Interactive Systems with SCXML In conjunction with EICS 2016 (http://eics-conference.org/2016/), Brussels, Belgium June 21st - 24th, 2016 ** About ------------------------------------------------------------ The W3C SCXML standard (http://www.w3.org/TR/scxml/) for Harel state-charts, in unison with the W3C MMI architecture (http://www.w3.org/TR/mmi-arch/) specification and related work from the W3C MMI working group are a promising suite of recommendations for interoperable Internet-of-Things applications and appliances. Either in its role as a dialog manager for multi-modal user interfaces or as a general description for reactive systems, SCXML fills an important void in the landscape of available W3C recommendation. This 3rd installment of the workshop will provide a forum for academia and industry alike to present and discuss recent developments with regard to SCXML and to identify extensions and adaptations as part of a continued standardization effort. ** Workshop Topics ------------------------------------------------------------ The workshop will provide a forum to discuss submissions detailing the use of SCXML, in particular, multi-modal dialog systems adhering to the concepts outlined by the various W3C standards in general and related approaches of declarative dialog modeling to engineer interactive systems. We are interested in: * Implementations of the standard * SCXML development tools * Usages in interactive systems within a web browser, on the desktop, mobile or in the Internet of Things * Applications in robotics and adjacent spaces of interactive systems * Integration of SCXML into existing technologies, especially related W3C standards * Theoretical explorations and extensions of SCXML * Evaluations of SCXML for industrial use-cases ** Submission ------------------------------------------------------------ We invite submissions in three different formats: * Position papers and posters (4 pages) describe a motivated opinion or viewpoint, identifies an open issue or important problem, or presents work in progress * Demo papers (4 pages) describe a system setup * Full papers (6 pages) describe substantial contributions of novel ongoing work All submissions will be peer-reviewed. Besides based on general contributions, submissions will also be selected on their potential to initiate discussion. Accepted submissions will be made available as online proceeding on our web site. Moreover, they will be made available on our publication server to ensure that they can be cited. Copyright is retained by the authors thus papers can be submitted for other venues that allow this. ** Format ------------------------------------------------------------ All submissions have to be 1. prepared according to the HCI Archive Format (http://chi2012.acm.org/cfp-formatting-instructions.shtml#archiveformat) and 2. submitted in PDF format through the workshop management system at EasyChair (https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=scxml2016) . ** Important Dates ------------------------------------------------------------ * Paper Submission: April 1st, 2015 * Author Notification: April 15th, 2015 * Camera-ready Version: May 1st, 2015 * Workshop: June 21, 2015 (tentative) ** Organizers ------------------------------------------------------------ * Stefan Radomski, TU Darmstadt, Germany * Dirk Schnelle-Walka, Harman International, Germany * Deborah Dahl, Conversational Technologies, USA * Max Mühlhäuser, TU Darmstadt, Germany ** Program Committee ------------------------------------------------------------ * Rahul Akolkar, IBM Research, USA * Raj Tumuluri, Openstream, USA * Jacob Beard, Jacobean Research and Development, USA * Jim Barnett, Genesys, USA * Florian Müller, TU Darmstadt, Germany * Tim Neubacher, TU Darmstadt, Germany * David Junger, University of Gothenburg, Sweden
