I am pleased to announce that the W3C Multimodal Interaction Working Group (http://www.w3.org/2002/mmi/) has published the Candidate Recommendation of the Ink Markup Language (InkML) (http://www.w3.org/TR/InkML/). InkML is a data format for representing ink entered with an electronic pen or stylus. The markup allows for the input and processing of handwriting, gestures, sketches, music and other notational languages in applications. It provides a common format for the exchange of ink data between components such as handwriting and gesture recognizers, signature verifiers, and other ink-aware modules. The W3C invites reports on implementations of InkML. Information on submitting an implementation report is provided in the InkML Candidate Recommendation specification. Implementation feedback is welcome through 20 April 2011. best regards, Debbie Dahl W3C Multimodal Interaction Working Group Chair
