Response to EmotionML LCWD comment ISSUE-185: Emotion markup using attributes

Hello Janina,

this is to reply to one of the comments on the EmotionML by W3C WAI PF
that you sent on 20 June [1], specifically:

ISSUE-185 Easier-to-use emotion markup using attributes

The group has discussed the issue and proposes the following solution:

DEFER

In fact, we had previously discussed options for making emotion
annotation usable with HTML5, and concluded that the appropriate
approach would be to devise a specification which makes emotion markup
available as a set of attributes. This specification would take key
concepts from EmotionML but would represent them in ways that are more
"lightweight" and thus easy to combine with other markup.

The upcoming revised charter of the MMI working group includes first
steps to move in this direction through a requirements analysis. If we
could work with WAI in this phase to benefit from your experience with
ARIA, that could be extremely helpful.

Please let us know if you agree with this resolution within 14 days,
i.e. by 9 September. Should we not hear from you by that date, we will
consider this to represent implicit approval, but explicit feedback is
always better.

Thanks and best regards,
Marc
