An upcoming conference on multimodal interfaces that may be of interest to list members. Call for Papers Sixth International Conference on Multimodal Interfaces(ICMI'04) October 13-15, 2004 The Atherton Hotel State College, PA, USA http://www.icmiplace.org Sponsored by ACM The Sixth International Conference on Multimodal Interfaces (ICMI'04) will be held October 13-15, 2004 at the Atherton Hotel and the School of Information Sciences Technology Building at the Pennsylvania State University. The three-day conference, sponsored by ACM, will bring together academia, industry and government agencies to present and discuss the latest multidisciplinary work on multimodal interfaces, systems, and applications. ICMI'04 is the foremost international conference representing the growing interest in next-generation perceptive, adaptive and multimodal user interfaces, which are transforming the nature of human-computer interaction by creating more natural, expressively powerful, flexible and robust means of interacting with computers. Topics of interest to the conference include: - multimodal input and output interfaces using modalities such as speech, vision, naturallanguage, gesture, gaze, audio, haptics, and pen-based techniques. - multimodal architectures. - multimodal fusion and multisensory integration. - cognitive modeling of users. - multibiometric interfaces. - universal access interfaces. - multimodal wearable/mobile systems. - attentive and attentional interfaces. - system evaluation. - tools and system infrastructure for multimodal interfaces. - and applications of multimodal interfaces. The three days of invited talks, panels, single-track oral and poster presentations will facilitate interaction and discussion among researchers. The ICMI'04 proceedings will be published by ACM Press. Authors are invited to submit original, unpublished research papers with a maximum length of 8 pages. Detailed information about paper submission, including a style guide, can be found at on the conference web site: http://www.icmiplace.org Important Dates: Paper submissions May 7, 2004 Panel, demo proposals May 21, 2004 Author notification June 22, 2004 Final papers July 28, 2004 Early registration August 31, 2004 Conference October 13-15, 2004 General Co-Chairs Rajeev Sharma, Advanced Interfaces Trevor Darrell, MIT Program Co-Chairs Mary Harper, Purdue Gianni Lazzari, IRST Matthew Turk, UCSB Treasurer Andy Wilson, Microsoft Research Website/Publicity Sanshzar Kettebekov, OHSU Publications Francis Quek, Wright State Student Volunteers Magy Seif El-Nasr, Penn State Local Arrangements David Hall, Penn State Demos Gouray Cai, Penn State Area Chairs Mark Billinghurst, HITL-NZ Phil Cohen, OHSU Sadaoki Furui, Titech Julia Hirschberg, Columbia Karon MacLean, UBC Shri Narayanan, USC Sharon Oviatt, OHSU Tieniu Tan, NLPR Jie Yang, CMU For more information, see the conference web site: http://www.icmiplace.org Questions?
