I have two brief notes from a user's perspective before I leave this wonderful group that dedicates its time to make mathematics more accessible for all. 1. It would be nice if word processors and spreadsheets (MS Word and Google Docs) standardized the formatting on their menu to include "π ( "Bold, Italic, ..,π") where clicking "π" formats a linear math equation into 2-dimensional standard math formatting (a^2 ==> a.. ), and clicking again does the reverse. Copy would include the option to copy and paste as MathML. With this single button, math formatting becomes standard on applications. Those who have influence with Microsoft and Google can present the idea. 2. Adding in these word processors and spreadsheets as standard the use of the numeric pad keys as 9 directional arrows (or the other keys for 9 directional arrows) to move the cursor top-left for superscript etc. allows for standard math 2-dimensional easy input (for diacritic characters input as well). Those who have influence with Microsoft and Google can present the idea, and others will hopefully follow the practice quickly.
