Announcements/Updates/Progress reports DC: I updated the intent examples <https://w3c.github.io/mathml-docs/intent-examples/> to use the new MathCAT version Neil provides. It is mostly working but there are a few bugs. I don't know if they are mine or Neil's. NS: I'll look at them and fix the problems. <https://sandbox.cryptpad.info/code/inner.html?ver=2024.9.0-6#cp-md-0-2-mathml-4-issues->2. MathML 4 issues:New intent spec language <https://w3c.github.io/mathml/#mixing_intent_dictionaries> Hopefully a little more discussion on the intent wording in the draft https://github.com/w3c/mathml/pull/515 DG: I want to make it clear in 5.4 that AT is free to *not* use the exact matching of normalized name, the fixity property, and the arity. DC: The earlier definition says that AT is free to do what it wants. If it matches "power" with 3 arguments or 5 arguments and does some speech, that's fine. So its notion of airity for all the concepts might be "I support all airities". It could also be "I support all names". NS: Perhaps we need a reminder in 5.4 about what the definition is in 5.2? Action: PL and DG to come up with new PR about text in 5.4. The existing PR will be closed. <https://sandbox.cryptpad.info/code/inner.html?ver=2024.9.0-6#cp-md-0--a-href-https-github-com-w3c-mathml-issues-441-title-need-spec-update-volunteers-441-intent-and-style-mathcolor-css-others-a->441: Intent and style (mathcolor, CSS, others?) <https://github.com/w3c/mathml/issues/441> General discussion of how CSS and attributes such as MathColor should be conveyed to AT. One idea is to use intent. Action: DG to add an example showing intent and color. We will then decide whether it merits a subsection or to just leave it as an example. <https://sandbox.cryptpad.info/code/inner.html?ver=2024.9.0-6#cp-md-0--a-href-https-github-com-w3c-mathml-issues-388-338-scriptlevel-and-displaystyle-a->#338: scriptlevel and displaystyle <https://github.com/w3c/mathml/issues/388> Accidentally skipped this one. <https://sandbox.cryptpad.info/code/inner.html?ver=2024.9.0-6#cp-md-0--a-href-https-github-com-w3c-mathml-issues-120-120-remove-deprecate-simplify-the-ms-element-a->#120: Remove/deprecate/simplify the ms element <https://github.com/w3c/mathml/issues/120> ms is in core, but is different in that the quotes have to be in the text. There is a polyfill that adds the quotes, but you have the problem of knowing whether it is written for core (which includes the quotes) or not. DC: removing it from core because then at least the polyfill makes sense. DG: I agree. BM: there are CSS rules listed in the core spec. Why can't they be added to the user agent style? Group consensus is the best resolution that the rules should be added to the user agent style sheet and ms kept in Core. Action: DC to create a core issue to add the rules to the user agent style sheet. <https://sandbox.cryptpad.info/code/inner.html?ver=2024.9.0-6#cp-md-0--a-href-https-github-com-w3c-mathml-issues-361-361-structuring-common-attributes-a->#361: structuring common attributes <https://github.com/w3c/mathml/issues/361> DC: I think it is done. I will read through it and make sure it is done. I will close it if it is done.
