This is not a minor layout bug in Chrome25 beta. The example formula is totally unformatted, just a linear sequence of characters at the same size. Something has gone badly wrong. On that basis I find the Google developers' decision to turn MathML off for Chrome 25 reasonable. I have no evidence that they are applying to MathML different quality standards than they do to other parts of the system.
