Six years ago RFC 3023 suggested an application/mathml+xml media type, but warned: "no content type has yet been registered for MathML and so this media type should not be used until such registration has been completed." Three years ago we were assured that plans were afoot to register application/mathml+xml: http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/www-math/2003Jul/0085.html Such a media type would be useful when serving HTML, since MathML content could be embedded with an OBJECT element, without requiring an entire application/xhtml+xml document. So what happened? Why has the media type for this markup language still not been registered? -- Benjamin Hawkes-Lewis
