Dear Committee, I have worked on the translation of the Elsevier Science character grid (http://support.sciencedirect.com/sgml/docs/tagbytag.pdf, Chapter 6, Elsevier Science Grid) to Unicode. I have used the STIX table and the MathML entity files. During that task I have made a number of observations on the MathML entity files, which I am sending you herewith in the hope that they are useful. heartsuit: MML 02661 = white; should be 02665 = black hearts is not defined; should be 02665 for consistency with spades etc. xsqcup: STIX 02A06 = n-ary, MML 02294 = normal; xuplus: STIX 02A04 = n-ary, MML 0228E = normal; in both cases n-ary is the right choice. Similarly for xutri, xvee, xwedge. els: MML 022DC is not slanted; should be 02A95. egs: MML 022DD is not slanted; should be 02A96. lEg: MML 022DA does not have double equal; should be 02A8B. gEl: MML 022DB does not have double equal; should be 02A8C. lne: MML 02268 has double equal; should be 02A87. nle: MML 02269 has double equal; should be 02A88. nlE: MML 02A7D-00338 does not have double equal; should be 02266-00338. ngE: MML 02A7E-00338 does not have double equal; should be 02267-00338. sce: MML 0227D, which is curly (≽); should be 02AB0 (cf. pre). subE: MML 02286, which does not have double equal; should be 02AC5. supE: MML 02287, which does not have double equal; should be 02AC6. subnE: MML 0228A, which does not have double equal; should be 02ACB. supnE: MML 0228B, which does not have double equal; should be 02ACC. nsubE: MML 02288, which does not have double equal; should be 02AC5-00338. nsupE: MML 02289, which does not have double equal; should be 02AC6-00338. digamma: MML 003DC, which is capital; should be lc: 003DD. epsi, straightepsilon: MML 003B5, which is curly; should be 003F5. epsiv: MML 0025B, which is not Greek; should be 003B5. star: MML 022C6, which is (filled) star operator; should be 02606.
