It's probably the rendering engine that should be changed in order to output 'tg' when it meets the <tan/> tag. If you want a tag called <tg/> you want a different language that is not MathML, a bit like changing <mi> to <im> as French mathematicians might want to do. I am not advising against doing it, actually, and it would be quite simple to write an XSLT transform to map your markup to MathML. > "a + b all raised to power 2... I am not sure that the first voice-browser that can read maths would be based on Presentation MathML.
