problems doing update from the CVS repository from Steinar Bang on 1999-08-06 (www-lib@w3.org from July to September 1999)

I have problems doing "cvs up" today.  It always terminates with the
error message:

cvs server: failed to create lock directory in repository `/sources/public/libwww/Library/cvs2sql': No such file or directory
cvs server: failed to obtain dir lock in repository `/sources/public/libwww/Library/cvs2sql'
cvs [server aborted]: read lock failed - giving up

I've tried first removing the cvs2sql directory from the workspace,
then the entire Library directory and recreating them, but the "cvs
up" always terminates at the same spot.
