problem with setting up jsp

I have followed the tutorial for setting up jsp using tomcat without a single
apparant deviation; nonetheless, I get the following error whenever I try to
acces any jsp files:

Servlet has thrown exception:javax.servlet.ServletException:
javax/xml/parsers/ParserConfigurationException

Any clues as to what I may have done wrong.
