JIGSAW: Illegal constant pool index error -- on a Spanish OS

Hello All,

I had been a loyal follower of the list during 1999 when our client-server based application -which uses JIGSAW- was in building stage. When all was said and done, I had unsubscribed. It looks like I am going to need some of you JIGSAW gurus' -especially those of you who have internationalization experience- advice on some problem one of our clients is having.

We are distributing Jigsaw with our application, and making sure that JRE1.2.2 is used, by distributing that one as well. Our software has been shipped to all around the world, including countries with more difficult alphabets such as korean, chinese and all. However, this client in SPAIN (with a Spanish Win98) is reporting the following problem:

When they first install the software, jigsaw runs fine, until it chokes at one point. Then when they kill it properly andtry to run it again, they encounter an "Illegal constant pool index" error. Please see:

I poked around with it and figured it had something to do with the jigsaw/config/stores directory. My guess is that the st-N files that come with the installation work fine, but the files created locally cannot be read back -- possibly due to some date or number format? ... I tried to have them do the following: Delete all the files in the jigsaw/config/stores directory and try to start jigsw again, and a similar error occured, it was somewhat different however:

This may or may not be related to the Spanish OS, but if any of you out there have any idea what may be happening, please let me know in urgency.

Thanks,

Tolga Sakman
