removing line 89 and recompiling with 1.1 from Adrian Havill on 1997-04-24 (www-jigsaw@w3.org from March to April 1997)

When trying to recompile with 1.1 after removing the problem line 89, I
noticed the 1.1 compiled flags a lot of methods as depreciated.

Has anyone tried substituting the depreciated versions with the modern
ones (like PrintString with PrintWriter, etc.)? Does it work? Is is the
work to be done more trouble than it's worth?
