jck: in addition to work on eai
... major flap in ietf about how they do i18n
... recommendations not being picked up

... in a css class id, included a cowboy emoji
... it actually works on most browsers

richard: if you click justification
... there are no results
... these are exploratory tests you can use to see if things
work
... can add own tests
addison: that is extremely useful
<r12a> [21]https://r12a.github.io/pickers/vai/
[21] https://r12a.github.io/pickers/vai/
richard: there is now a Vai picker available
... syllabic script with 300 or so characters
... slightly odd setup

... this is version 23

What time is this meeting at?
proposed: 2 hours earlier?
addison to follow with email
input type=email change proposals #607
[27]https://github.com/w3c/i18n-activity/issues/607
[27] https://github.com/w3c/i18n-activity/issues/607
jck: two observations about left hand side
... first is procedural, a great deal of work from universal
acceptance
... has demonstrated that there are issues
... there is a doc some of us are working on, which describes
universal acceptance
... has a lot of errors currently
... second is do not interpret a working paper from a
participant of universal acceptance as a doc from ICANN
... probably made an error allowing unrestricted unicode in LHS
... difficulties would be less if emails not used as identifers
outside email
addison: should we kick can while eai works on it?
jck: diff between someone else's address vs. your own, generate
vs. accept
... need to work on generate side, narrow it down to unicode
identifier rules for example
addison: that's the crux here. html on the accept side
jck: nudge down road until there is a specific proposal?
richard: in former discussion in bugzilla
... why is html spec trying to do the validation
... some folks on list think maybe don't enforce that?
... also suggested two types, one draconian ascii-only and the
other "real world"
addison: type=email would be the first one, I believe
