It may turn out that most frequently direction overrides at a more finegrained level are necessary and that therefore authors are stuck with using Unicode code points intended for that purpose anyway. At this point we do not have much experience with notifications so we should first see how it goes. (In case it was not clear, this is mostly my personal opinion formed on mailing list discussion thus far.
