Some time back, there was what seemed to be an unbiased article in "Yahoo Japan" magazine which was comparing the number of hits returned when both hankaku and zenkaku katakana keywords were searched for on various Japanese search engines. Some engines returned the same results for hankaku and zenkaku searches and others returned different results so it is probably a good idea to include both in the keywords.
