ABSTRACT of "What's so special about translating/localizing software?

LOCALIZATION is a company-wide process":

Learn about the advantages of developing one source code that supports all
the locales/language features required by your international markets. Find
out how to develop test suites for localized software, and how to develop
technical documentation that is internationalized

from the very start. Get tips on how to avoid a US-centric description of
software products to avoid having to re-write your US product's
documentation before it can be translated into other languages.

Other topics will include:

- Localization as a process to formulate a business case for localizing a
software product.

- Criteria to select a software localization vendor and how to set up
successful business relationships with localization agencies to develop and
ship high-quality and cost-effective localized software applications.

We will conclude with a brief overview of the latest technologies in the
field of machine translation, plus some description of the latest
localization tools, their features, and how they can expedite and automate
some aspects of your localization cycles, including

multilingual websites.
