Moving from DTDs to Schemas

Forwarding something just found in comp.text.sgml.
Pipelined validation will be a good thing for content providers.

One of the recent posts mentions RELAX NG. That is about to become an ISO
standard, as Part 2 of ISO/IEC 19757. This overall standard, Document Schema
Definition Languages, will provide a framework for pipelined validation using
several user-selectable schema forms.

The final text of the ISO version of RELAX NG can be found from
http://www.y12.doe.gov/sgml/sc34/document/0320.htm.

The initial explanation of the standard is at
http://www.y12.doe.gov/sgml/sc34/document/0275.htm

The latest table of contents for the overall standard is contained in
http://www.y12.doe.gov/sgml/sc34/document/0312.htm
