As it's the server side, do we need to install any additional component on the server? I know on the IIS on Windows it come in the package. How about the other web server software? Server side includes are used for web servers. I use it often. Very simply, you add this line to your html file. <!--#include virtual="file" --> I use virtual addresses for the files, you can also use hard disk addresses. Wherever you have that, it is replaced with the content in the file. It is a way to make it so you don't have to repeat content, but for text only and the user doesn't know you use it. I name my files .html even if they have SSI, yet some people like to use .shtml (beats me why). -----Original Message----- From: www-html-request@w3.org [mailto:www-html-request@w3.org]On Behalf Of David Bindel Sent: Friday, May 25, 2001 22:23 To: www-html@w3.org Subject: Re: What is shtml? > > Hi, > > > > Sorry to ask this dumb question. As for how to use SSI, I have no idea. If I'm wrong, sorry. (Hopefully), David Bindel __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo!
