Section 17.2.1 of HTML 4.0 says: object controls Authors may insert generic objects in forms such that associated values are submitted along with other controls. Authors create object controls with the OBJECT element. What is an "associated value" and how exactly is it associated with an object? It doesn't look like these aspects are defined by the spec. IMO, they better be, otherwise will end up with each browser implementing this each its own way.
