I just noticed that NAME has been added to the list of allowable attributes for the IMG element "for backwards compatibility", i.e., to legitimize the misuse of NAME in place of ID in JavaScript implementations in Navigator and Explorer version 4. My personal opinion (that this is a step backwards) aside, it seems inappropriate that this chance was made to the Strict as well as the Transitional DTD. If this change is only to cover older practices, shouldn't it also be deprecated? John T. Whelan whelan@iname.com http://www.slack.net/~whelan/
