There needs to be some motivation for information prioviders to use XHTML, rather than HTML 4.0. What benefits will HTML authors see from ensuring their documents conform to XHTML, and not just HTML 4.0? When will the advantages be seen? Were will applications to exploit XHTML be located, the browser (e.g. IE5), ECMAScript applications at the browser, at the server, or elsewhere?
